Exhale.
Martin Scorsese is my favorite Catholic. How many great films does a guy have to make to win a goddamn Oscar? Alright everyone, time to stop humping Marty’s leg.
I had thought cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki’s work on Children of Men was unbeatable. Pan’s Labyrinth is amazing though. I hated Babel, but the Mexicans (Cuaron, Del Toro, Inarritu) are on to something.
During the telecast I saw many ads I’d never seen before. I learned that coffee and malted barley are good for me. Must drink more coffee and Guinness then.

I coudn’t be happy enough with Marty and that bald gold head in his hands. But sad over Pan’s loss over The Lives of Others. Del Toro must have been devastated with his minions getting old uncle Oscar. I guess I have to see this one. How can it get Art Direction, Make-up and Cinematography (even just think about its nomination in those categories) and not For. Lang.? Darn. Although, Steve Carell should have been nommed instead of Arkin who delivers a forgettable performance, it’s ok because thank God Eddie Murphy didn’t win. Predictable. Ellen DeGeneres was funny. Hail Al Gore. And everyone who said it was vulgar, bloody and a sh*ty remake can kick The Departed’s a**.

I’m afraid I’m going to be one of those insufferable, the-original-was-loads-better types about The Departed. It’s not a patch on Infernal Affairs.
I’m OK with the universe finally giving Marty his Oscar, but The Departed as Best Picture… (winces)
I haven’t had a satisfying Oscar win since Adrien Brody won for The Pianist.
