The sexiest New Year’s Eve movie ever made is “The Fabulous Baker Boys”. Round midnight tonight, we’ll put on the dvd and skip to the chapter where Michelle Pfeiffer in a slinky red gown performs the song “Making Whoopee” on Jeff Bridges’ black Steinway during a New Year’s Eve gig in a cheesy Seattle night club. The most tittilating tease, though, is the cinematographer Michael Ballhaus, who does a slow, beautifully lit, circular tracking shot around the piano, all choreographed to perfection with the prancing, slithering Pfeiffer, no light stands or panties showing. This was the R-rated debut film of Steve Kloves, who has since regressed to writing the Harry Potter screenplays. After midnight, we’ll double back to Pfeiffer’s entrance scene where she auditions for Beau and Jeff Bridges with the jazz standard “More Than You Know." Then, we'll watch the entire film from the beginning. Happy New Year, everyone.
