Perhaps, jeg. But he did rave against the so-called “jewish conspiracy”; and as far as I know, he was not sympathetic to the plight of Palestinians. In fact, he was not sympathetic to any one at all. Well, except to himself. He was a reclusive, self-absorbed person who couldn’t handle the thought of anybody besting him on the 64 squares. He simply refused to believe that anyone is capable of beating him in chess. And he was right. Nobody could. And he proved this by simply refusing to play competitive chess again, except for that rematch with his old pal Boris.
But then again, what do I know? I have trouble figuring out myself sometimes, let alone somebody as complex as the genius and personality of Robert James Fischer.

That’s right, 64, the number of squares on the chessboard. A pity Bobby Fischer lacked the “sane gene.” Probably genius takes a lot of space on the brain, the cells that contain the codes for sanity are displaced. He was one of my childhood heroes, along with Boris Spassky.
For the life of me, I couldn’t understand his being a rabid anti=semite; his mother was jewish, after all. The fact that he, too, was jewish probably drove him crazy.
