I'll have to say that I definitely enjoy PTA's writing here. The acting isn't overly-dramatic when compared to Magnolia or Boogie Nights. That interplay between Daniel Day Lewis and Paul Dano is quite the sight to see...especially when they slap the heck out of each other.
