What’s he looking at?
What is this expression on Mat’s face? Has he seen something Eevil? Has someone threatened to out him? (But he was neutered years ago.)
No, Mat is doing his impression of Casey Affleck in The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. True, his eyes are yellow not blue, but he does get the scared/demented look of the Ford character. Besides the crazy blue eyes director Andrew Dominik has found a brilliant use for the Afflecks’ genetic rictus. So Casey is the actor in that family, while Ben (Gone Baby Gone) is the director. Good movie, beautifully shot, well-acted, and the sound editing is such that you can hear someone swallowing in the middle of a conversation. 2007 was the year of the American Frontier movie—Blood, No Country, Yuma, this, Into The Wild, parts of I’m Not There. I suspect Americans miss America and what it stands for. They yearn for the big, open spaces and the freedom and possibility they represent. They’re still there, just wake up.
By the way, there’s an interesting article in the New York Times about how Matthew Santos, the presidential candidate played by Jimmy Smits in The West Wing some years ago, was based on a certain congressman named Barack Obama. The current American presidential race has many stunning parallels with the election on that TV show. Didn’t watch it, but I read that Santos won.
I also saw Jumper. Teleportation as a metaphor for Attention Deficit Disorder.

What a handsome cat. I have a cat just like Mat, only his spots are ginger; he is such a charmer, and very vocal. Once you let him rub on your legs, he’ll never stop until you give him a treat or feed him. We call him “Kaps”. That’s short for kapal muks because when he’s too lazy, he refuses to get out of the house and insists on using the top of the tv shelf as his command center. But recently he got into some brawl; he’s pretty roughed up and he lost a lot of weight. Also, he’s about 7 years old which means he’s getting too old. I’m sure though that he’s got a lot of kittens out there in our block because I’ve seen many little versions of him running around. He has a son, all grown up and looks exactly like him, about 4 years old, only this one is a little aloof and very snobbish. There’s something very sage-like in this one. I call him Smeowgol because when I pull his ears back he looks like that LOTR character. He has a very keen sense of current events. Yesterday he told me this: “Ang anumang pagtatangkang patalsikin ang inyong pangulo ay hindi magtatagumpay, sapagkat sila’y mga hangal at wala silang nalalaman. Hehehe. Boss, wag mong kalimutan yung tsibog ko ha.” Than he strode off nonchalantly and climbed on the roof and across the fence, then to his informers in the neighborhood.

Mat looks sooo healthy! I’m bothered coz Max, the only cat I have left is frail and scraggly…He doesn’t want to eat his catfood (Oreo, my dog, eats the catfood), so i figured Max might like the dog food. hindi pa ren eh :( it’s very disturbing!
