Children are not PC.
Panchito (not his real name) and his six-year-old son boarded the elevator in their building. There were two other passengers on the lift: a middle-aged Australian and his young Filipina wife. The Australian was a friendly sort–he looked at Panchito’s son and boomed, “Hello! How old are you?”
“I’m six,” the little boy replied.
“You’re too big to be a six-year-old!” the friendly Australian said.
“You’re too old to have a yaya (nanny),” the little boy said.
Panchito was unable to take note of the Australian’s reaction, or that of his wife. He was too busy looking for an elevator shaft he could throw himself into.

That kid sealed the deal.

Okey yun a. Maybe that’s why we see all these caucasians with their Filipina wives, who are not exactly, aherm, beauty queens (by our standards). These caucasian dudes have problems rooted in their childhood, which is why…well, you get my drift.
I’m in trouble, aren’t I.

That’s why, sometimes, very young children, scare me shitless.

i know this is kinda cruel but whenever we see interracial couples like that, we call the girl “Lhen-lhen”…notice the “h” in Lhen—it has to have an “H”. there are a lot of them roaming around Greenbelt area.

Finally, somebody who said it aloud for the rest of us.

hmmmm, maybe im such a dork that is why i couldnt see the humor of this piece. i understand the innocence of the kid. i couldnt understand why some adults find that funny. it reeks of a new form of bigotry, one that automatically judges the motivations and nature of interracial, intergenerational marriages and relationships without knowing the distinctive story that weaves these lives. maybe andreavenge is right, that’s what is in everyone’s mind. sheer elitism, looking down on others and laughing at them. i am gay, i know that feeling of being judged by my looks. i can connect and i feel offended.

C’mon, be kind…they produce movie-stars!!! whahahaha
Anne Curtis, Bea Alonzo, Iya Villania, De Rossi’s sisters, thats all i could think of now…but of course, there’s more, i think.

It’s just a kid, so it’s kind of understandable.
I’m also married to a non-Filipino….a Belgian and i get that all the time.
Well, why don’t we change the way we feel about interracial relationships? Why is it that the “foreigners” seems to be “lucky ones”–what about us?
I always say my husband is lucky and i’m the foreigner.
Not all foreignrs are “good looking” either…Bakeeet? Kasi maputi sila??? Hello?!!!
I must admit that my kids are nice–pang artista raw, ganun??!!!
Sa Pinas lang naman yun, pero where we live, it’s very ordinary.
Wawa naman yung Pinay!!!

i dont think it’s funny at all. why is that when we, pinoys, see interracial couples we automatically assume the pinay as domestic helpers, prostitutes or ignorant probinsyana? it definitely reflects on our view that white people are better than us. i hope panchito will talk to his kid and explain to him that not all pinays who date white men are whores and maids.
May 27th, 2008 at 11:35
Prolly, that is why the interracial couples are getting raised eyebrows (i.e foreigner and Pinays) because of the status, economic as that. It isn’t about beauty, or even color etc etc. Seldom we find that Pinays are much well-off than the foreign guy they go out or married with.

Kids are the biggest racists. The cruelest creatures ever created.

oh, in my case i always say, WE ARE THE FOREIGNERS–it’s not a funny title–sounds like aliens!
THAT IS JUST THE CASE WHEN WE’RE WALKING HERE IN PINAS—IN OTHER COUNTRIES, IT’S THE OTHER WAY AROUND
SPEAKING OF COLORS–THEY ENVY US–THEY WASTE VAST AMOUNT OF MONEY TO BE TANNED–HOW STUPID IS THAT?
WE’RE BROWN ALL YEAR ROUND!
