Tobermory
There are quite a few stories about talking cats, and this is probably the best one: Tobermory by the unbearable, spellbinding Saki (H.H. Munro).

Saki is terrific. I love the Clovis stories – he’s so adorably sociopathic. There is also a very clever story, but I am not sure if it is by Munro or by O. Henry (another brilliant writer) that has something to do with a pan-handler telling a long story, a battle of wits with a passerby and a bar of soap or something. Speaking of O. Henry, his story ‘The Green Door’ is pretty damn good: http://www.literaturecollection.com/a/o_henry/38/
Cheers.

Hey, I hope anyone reading here could help me with this.
I saw a book at Powerbooks a long, long time ago (say, 2 or 3 years). I can’t remember the title nor the author. Just the synopsis. It was story from the view of a bored cat who travelled (or walked) and tells whatever is happening around from the cat’s perspective. I so wanted to buy that book, but then had no money at the time.
And ever since then, I was always looking at books that might resemble its cover (though that might also change, plus I don’t trust my memory) to find the book again and finally buy it. Would anyone happen to know what it is? Thanks!

Maurice and his Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett, a really good story about a talking cat and his rat friends, I was even moved when one of the rodents died.

It might be a book called ‘I am a Cat’ by Soseki Natsume. It was written as a string of short stories in Japan around 1910-1920 at is completely from the cat’s perspective and his observations of the people and places around him. The cat has no name (at least at the start). It has been in English translation for years and got a thumbs up from the New Yorker. I got it a few years ago. Maybe it is the one you saw.
Cheers.

Wow, thanks jara, lefthandedwonder and din79. The link helped. Now I’d definitely buy the book. I wonder though how come I forgot the title when it is so simple.
