Run, Benjamin, run.
Here’s my review of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, directed by David Fincher, adapted for the screen by Eric Roth, starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett:
It’s Forrest Gump.
Filtered through The English Patient.
Here’s the story by F. Scott Fitzgerald that the movie is supposedly based on, but really only borrows its premise from.
On the Second Law of Thermodynamics, the arrows of time, and the decreasing entropy of Benjamin Button’s body.
I am reminded of The Count’s first consultation with his gym trainer.
Trainer: So. What’s your goal? Would you like your body to look like Brad Pitt’s in Troy?
The Count: Omigod, no.
Trainer: Okay, what about Brad Pitt’s body in Legends of the Fall?
The Count: No please, I don’t want to gain mass.
Trainer: Uhh, Brad Pitt in Fight Club?
The Count: No. How shall I put this…
Trainer: Brad Pitt in Thelma and Louise?
The Count: I know! Angeline Jolie in Tomb Raider.

It’s more like Never-Ending Story, with a character reading the story, interrupted every now and then by pesky “real world” events and then realizes in the end that he is part of the story pala.
But I loved it.

According to quantum physics, an observer is needed to ‘fix’ the observation, or else something just exists in the realm of possibility or potential. Til we came along, the universe didnt exist. By becoming conscious of the universe, we caused the Big Bang. How’s that for the arrow of time, eh?

you know what they say, if you think you understand quantum physics, then you don’t understand quantum physics.
haha
I was surprised when I heard david fincher directed this, considering the other films he directed. I guess in order to create an oscar buzz, you’d have to do something that isn’t you. in acting that is. im not sure in directing.
