Kindle: scary name for an e-book reader
Nicholson Baker, author of Vox and The Fermata, test-reads the Kindle 2.
Wait wait wait, it’s just occurred to me that ‘Kindle’ means ‘to set on fire’, making it a scary name for a printed book substitute. Savonarola, Nazis, you know what I’m saying?
Meanwhile, Apple’s much-anticipated Tablet is said to launch in 2010.

Wait. Nicholson Baker reads Michael Connelly and Robert Ludlum? I just don’t think he’s that kinda guy. Sort of brilliant for disclosing information like that.
And I would much rather hold something with pages made of paper than a clunky machine. I’ll stick to my collection, thank you.

I think it’s nice.
You can download free classic books from project gutenburg or ariang and kindle it. (it’s not yet a verb but it will be).
I’m not gonna spend money on it though cause I hate bringing tech stuff in public places. It’s fine to misplace a book cause it’s cheap but if you forget where you put your Kindle, it will surely ruin your week.

My god! I still can’t believe I’m here! I’m a big fan! (Too much exclamation points. Sorry)
I’m starting to get ashamed of myself.

I sometimes wonder how effective all those Kindles would be if we were blasted with an electromagnetic pulse wave? Would we go back to paper after all? Besides, how could I attract girls if they wouldn’t know from afar what I was reading?
