In online tennis forums JMDP is nicknamed Elf because apparently he has elfish features. In real life, his nicks are delPo and Palito. Luckily, Kanye West wasn’t around during the trophy presentation, although there was a bit of controversy about delPo not given enough time to finish his acceptance speech due to television time constraints.
Interestingly, Federer’s streak of 5 USO titles are bookended by losses to Argentines (the other is David Nalbandian).
