What would Nancy do?
For this week’s LitWit challenge I’m still giving away the set of four Nancy Drew Books.
Here’s the situation. Intrepid girl sleuth Nancy Drew comes to Manila to investigate a mystery.
What mystery? Better yet, which mystery?
Post the title of the Nancy Drew adventure and a short synopsis.
Example: Nancy Drew and the House in Foster City. While visiting friends in Manila, Nancy hears about a haunted house in the San Francisco Bay Area. Apparently its owner had committed media suicide. It is said that during the full moon, a ghost walks through the rooms groaning, “My lawyer can answer that. . .So sue me. . .” On her return to the US, our girl detective takes a side trip to SF and discovers that the house. . .has disappeared! Or did it ever exist in the first place?

Nancy Drew and The Secret of the Film Center
Titian-haired teenage detective Nancy Drew accompanies her father in a diplomatic trip in Manila with her friends Bess and George. The ambassador welcomes her dad – being an old friend – and entrusted to him a sapphire necklace that will be sent back to America.
During the grand reopening of the Manila Film Center, her father gets abducted by mysterious men. Security shake their heads in disbelief as no one has left the room, or the building, and are suspecting that ghosts and lost souls of the Film Center workers are taking their revenge and are abducting guests. The abductors leave a note to the ambassador: the lesson is, nothing leaves the vault.
Nancy and her friends needs to find poor, possibly suffocating dad in the rooms of the haunted film center, while pondering: what does this note mean? And what does the initials “IRM,” engraved at the back of the necklace, mean? Are Nancy and her friends uncovering a mystery bigger than their own?
(Also, can you guess who the special guest is?)

Nancy Drew and What May Be Her Last Adventure
At the invitation of a Fan Club, ND went on an all-expenses paid trip to the Philippines. It was fortuitous that she was in Manila on the 37th anniversary of the declaration of martial law; and on one of her tours, she chanced upon a militant group shouting their lungs off about martial law happening in its de facto form under the Arroyo administration.
She got off her vehicle to mingle with the rallyistas and had a grand time learning about extrajudicial killings, all-out legal offensives against know leaders of underground and aboveground organizations, and of course, enforced disappearances. She was even caught on cam by local news orgs. Indeed, she was news!
Her natural curiosity brought her to the inner sanctum of the Philippines’ most powerful (which are either political figures or showbiz celebs or both)
Fast forward to the latest headline on Abante Tonite: NANCY DREW DI MATAGPUAN!

Nancy Drew and the mysterious killing of the pirated dvd vendors
A mysterious disappearance of the most prominent dvd vendors in quiapo forced the NBI to seek the help of the greatest detective in the world, Nancy Drew. However, the task is not easy because the journey from the airport to quiapo itself is a big task already (the traffic, the rude jeepney drivers, etc.). Upon arriving at the scene, and collecting testimonies from, jeepney barkers, vendors, etc, she was able to find out that the people suspects that a certain “chairman” might have a hand in the disappearance of the vendors.
It was easy to find this chairman, but getting close to him is the hard part. After all, he was a celebrity and a host of a famous game show. Many people surrounds him all the time. Because of this, she must resort to a different tactic. A desperate attempt to get close to the chairman and obtain some clues/answers from him.
She must learn to dance the “Papaya”!

Nancy Drew and the Mysterious Black Books
While finishing a year as an exchange student at a university in Manila, Nancy Drew encounters a library where a lot of books went missing every day. Nancy Drew doesn’t know where to start investigating. Every day, missing books keep piling up. And every week, either a student or a teacher disappears after going out of the library. But as our teen investigator digs deeper on the case, she learns that the missing students and teachers disappeared after returning a black volume of “The Adventures of the Black-Hooded Journeyman.â€
The mysterious book series has 12 volumes. Ten volumes were already missing at the same time the seven students and three teachers disappeared. Can Nancy Drew solve the mystery of the black books before the last two volumes vanish—as well as its two borrowers?
