My mongo crisis
Nooo! Cafe Bola in Greenbelt 3 is gone! The sign on the door said they were moving, but it didn’t say where. I asked the waiters at Cibo and they couldn’t say.
Always regarded Bola as my kitchen. Where am I going to get my weekly mongo and dilis (and sinampalukang manok, and caramelized spam)? I’d have to go to Cubao, or eek! learn to cook.

No more Café Bola in Greenbelt 3? I’m going to miss my faves – Botsky’s tuna laing (served with the crab fat rice), banana heart and cheese dip with the pan de sal rounds, spicy tuyo fillets on rice with scrambled egg and tomato-cilantro salsa, lechon sinigang with watermelon, kamias shake and iced lemongrass tea! Cubao is quite far. Though I cook, recreating Ms. Fores’ confident and inventive dishes is such a tall order. No “eNTeNG & Gaita” here.

Nooo… :( Where else will I get my taro chips fix? I didn’t even know they were moving, please update where they’ll be moving. :(

Hey, I like their caramelized spam too! But it’s rather pricey for something that I can easily whip up at home (It’s just fried SPAM with sugar, right?)
So…Cafe Bola’s “moving.”
Same way that Max Brenner “moved” last January. News flash: It’s already late October, and there’s still no new location. None that I know of, at least.

may monggo ba sa sentro? anyway, had lunch with my daughter around a month ago at cafe bola and was struck by how sad the vibe was. it did feel like it was on its last legs and, well, there you go.
