Where I’m going
One of my favorite movies of all time begins and ends on a ship.
The Lady Eve, written and directed by Preston Sturges, starring Barbara Stanwyck and Henry Fonda.
So I get a special kick out of my next trip: a cruise on the Norwegian Epic. Befuddled herpetologist returning from a year in the Amazon optional (You have to see the movie).
This is the ship.
The Norwegian Epic of the Norwegian Cruise Lines, represented in the Philippines by Star Cruises.
Yes, these are renderings. We can compare them with the photos I will take on the cruise.
This is the deck.
This is a stateroom.
This is a theatre.
This is the featured entertainment.
This is a restaurant.
After the cruise, London and Wimbledon! I’m bringing a white sweater.

Pampering: defined as lolling around in that stateroom, ordering room service, and reading your designated doom-and-gloom Russian author for the month. What a view! The sea seems to be just 3 steps away from you. I would probably feel unsettled looking out into the inky void at night.
Have a blast on the cruise and in Wimbledon! Looking forward to your twisted take on queuing for tickets, strawberries and clotted cream, the inevitable downpour, and the venerable ladies and gentlemen of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. Look our for an errant vuvuzela or two.

First fun/sad thought upon seeing this post: DFW on the MV Nadir.

Correction: That should be “Look out for an errant vuvuzela or two.”

Avignon is right, please don’t forget to write about the strawberries and cream in Wimbledon. And please take pictures of them so we could all feel the pain of being stuck in Noynoy-land.
Oh, and enjoy the trip!

Is that the Blue Man Group? Since Paris is just a 2-hour Eurostar ride away, are you planning a Parisian side trip?

Hmmm. Poetry and Wimbledon. Either an inspired or lame idea. But if anyone can pull it off, the Brits can. Cannot imagine an official poet at the U.S. Open. But the queen in attendance this year, wow.
