I’m working my way through 1Q84 since it arrived on my doorstep (as a doorstop, hahaha) on the actual release date. I’m a big fan of Murakami but the story in this one didn’t grab me until page 200 or so, and now I have the problem of not having enough time to just sit and power-read so I can finish the book as soon as possible.
Thanks for the other recommendations, time to update my Amazon wishlist!

1Q84! :-D How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe and The Postmortal also caught my eye.

My traffic mate is GRR Martin’s ‘A Clash of Kings’. When it gets bumpy or when drivers turn off the light, I use my cellphone to read an ebook.
