How to organize your bookshelves
Ah, how to organise one’s bookshelves? One of life’s central questions, and well done Alexander McCall Smith for raising it on Twitter yesterday. Perhaps not everyone would consider this a vital topic, but for me it is. Just as Casaubon in Middlemarch is trying to find “the key to all mythologies” (the title of his unfinished book), so I believe that if I can arrange my library properly, everything will be solved. Who needs the Higgs boson? The real key is where to file The Iliad. Poetry or history?
The importance of organising your bookshelves in The Guardian.
First we need two or three more bookshelves to get the books off the tables, chairs and floor.

We’ll hire a librarian.

What Chus said. There are many new local librarians who just passed their board exams weeks ago. (Congrats!)

I have books stacked in front of a mirror in my room, making it entirely useless. I’ve been meaning to arrange them neatly in my bookshelf but I always put it off until the next day.

Una sa lahat, kailangan kong bumili ng bahay…or malaking condo na may maraming silid.

if i could just organize my books like this, then my hubby wont be able to say that if he ever needs a ground to divorce me, he’ll say “She turned our whole house into a warehouse of books”… ahahhaha… that is if ever divorce will be legal here…

The first time I saw a grand bookshelf like this was in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. I swear pag nakakita talaga ako ng ganito in real life…magpapapicture ako at aakyat sa ladder sabay kanta ng “Here’s where she meets Prince Charming but she won’t discover that it’s him till chapter three!!!”

i used to be the only person in the house who buys books regularly. now i’ve competition in my two very young daughters whose books have claimed the spots of prominence on our shelves, with the rest of the spots being occupied by their toys. i guess my books will have to bear their current state of affairs until we get our dream house – one with a library occupying an entire floor.
the hubby might insist on his half of the floor for his music room but he has to deal with the kiddos.
now if only i can find my lotto ticket.
