The Jessica Rules the Universe podcast, episode 3, is now available. You can listen to it, download it, or subscribe to it on iTunes.
We sat down for a good, longish yak with Mike from the Walk and Eat blog. You’re right: 15 minutes is too short; a half-hour is better for starting, building, ending a conversation. As we were discussing food, the venue was a quiet corner of Brida’s cafe at Power Plant. (It was the middle of a working day so Budjette was slaving at the office. Do not worry, Budjette fans, he’ll be baaaack.)
What is more fun: having a fantastic meal at a great restaurant then reminiscing about it for the next 3 months while your friends roll their eyeballs, or enduring a terrible dinner in an overpriced dump then complaining about it on your blog where everyone can chime in with their horror stories? It’s called rest au rant you know. Get the podcast now.

Excellent episode. I don’t eat out much, and visit new restaurants even less frequently, but this half-hour talk was very inspiring and appetizing!
(You should have two microphones — one for you and one for the guest. The noise from passing the mike from one speaker to another was slightly distracting. And some parts of the conversation by the speaker who happened to not have the mike at the time they were speaking were unintelligible.)

Could. Not. Stop. Laughing. And now I’m hungry! I’ve abeen meaning to try the Likha sa Gulod restaurant in KNL for a long time because it’s on the IKOT jeep route and everyone I know who has eaten there says that the food is really good. I’ve even put Fely J’s on my must-try list now, since my parents refuse to go with me to Antonio’s because “walang kanin doon.”
The segment about the intrusive waiters reminded me of two different incidents that happened to me while eating out:
1) When I was around 5 years old, we were on the way to Banaue when we stopped at a restaurant along the way. I had the fried chicken, and when somebody stopped by the table to ask me how I liked the food, I answered, “Well, I finished it.”
2) I was at a bar in LB Square (not too far from the UPLB gate) with my friend, where we were drooling all over the Bench Philippine Volcanoes calendar over beer and pulutan. Suddenly we noticed our waiter going by our table several times, sometimes bringing us the wrong order na may palingon-lingon effect pa. My friend picks up on this and begins to comment on the waiter: “Rugby rugby rugby, rugby kayo diyan! Kinse lang silip, bente ang full body!” We were both laughing so hard that the waiter ended up bringing our correct order.

to make the pig’s blood cubes, i remember my lola would pour the pig’s blood over a bowl with a few grains of rice below. the starch in the rice makes the blood coagulate as they dry up. and then she just removes the bits of rice at the bottom of the blood curd before cooking them… yumminess!

Was working very late last night on an empty stomach when I decided to listen to the podcast. To say that it was a very bad idea would be an understatement – I literally went to bed salivating.
The comments about turning into a slob if you live alone are spot on. IMy mother would kill me if she ever saw me eating Lucky Me off a frying pan! :D
I would like to try Sosing’s carinderia soon :) My family lives nearby and it’s a surprise I’ve never heard of the place. There’s also a barbeque place along South Super corner Vito Cruz that’s supposedly good (not Amber – although Amber is definitely yummy)
BTW we used to call the place you were referring to “Krus na Ligtas” because of all the muggings and bag snatchings that happened in that place :P

This has to be my favorite podcast you’ve recorded, Ms. JZ! Made me laugh many times. I hope there’s a part two to this.
One thing in common with all my close friends: lahat sila maganang kumain! What can be a better way to catch up with friends than with a good meal?
Also, I love Walk and Eat! I check it at least thrice weekly.
