MMFF Moviethon Day 6: El Presidente is a movie that had to be made. But not by them.
Summary: Emilio Aguinaldo is the most misunderstood figure in Philippine history. El Presidente tries to set the record straight and ends up giving it a really bad perm.
Rating: 1.5 stars
Recommendation: If you have to watch it, bring a friend you can yak with. The other viewers won’t mind because they’re yakking too. We saw it with our friend Vivien.
– That high collar only accentuates Jeorge Estregan’s shortage of neck. Tailoring could’ve solved that.
– Ayyyy Baron Geisler looks demented!
– That’s not caused by drugs, that’s caused by rehab.
– Look! William Martinez has been possessed by Enchong’s beard from The Strangers.
– Just when you think Baron Geisler has the Overacting Award in the bag, Christopher de Leon appears to snatch it away!

OA naman talaga si Christopher de Leon. Sa “Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang” lang siya hindi OA kasi nagsisimula pa lang siya noon. Habang tumatagal siya sa pag-arte, lalo siyang nagiging OA.

Local icon Nora Aunor was there as Maria Agoncillo. When she was introduced to Aguinaldo as a niece of a couple who looks much younger than Nora,there were sniggles all over the cinema. When can Pinoy casting directors do their job right? and the mystical old “Inang Bayan” is obviously a young lady made up as such. who are they fooling? why not cast a real old lady in that role?can’t find one?

Christopher De Leon has the distinction of turning in some of the finest and some of the worst performances in Philippine cinema.
Okay, name your Most OA performance by Christopher De Leon. We nominate Hiram Na Mukha starring Nanette Medved, in which he played a plastic surgeon. “A-KOH! ang pinakamagalING! na PLASTIC SARGEON! sa buong AsYAH!”

Hindi namin napanood ang Hiram Na Mukha kaya panis kami. Gayunpaman, para sa amin, ang pinaka-OA moment ni Boyet ay iyong sa Kislap sa Dilim, bago niya sugurin ang kuta ni Rez Cortez at habang pinipigilan siya ni Gabby Concepcion sa kanyang panggagalaiti.
Ibang antas ang pagiging OA ni Cesar Montano dahil nadadala niya ang pagiging OA sa tunay na buhay. Sa acceptance speech niya sa 2001 MMFF, “Para sa inyo, Yamashita ang Best Picture. Para sa akin, Bagong Buwan. Bibili na lang kami ng tropeo sa Recto!”

Kailangang mapanood namin ang Kislap Sa Dilim! Doon naman sa Gaano Kita Kamahal, gumanap si Christopher De Leon na burn victim kaya’t natatakpan ang kanyang mukha…pero OA pa rin ang kamay niya.
Iba talaga ang OA kung nahaluan ng pikon!
