Next we review the theatres showing Iron Man 3

Number of times we’ve seen Iron Man 3: Two. Read our spoiler-free first-day review at InterAksyon: It’s not the suit, it’s the man.
On opening day we caught it at Power Plant Mall Cinema 1. Our ticket was for the 3pm show. We arrived at 2:55pm, only to find that the movie had started early. We missed the entire prologue set in 1999.
Yesterday we saw it at Shangri-La Mall Cinema 3. The screen was so dark, the night scenes were barely visible. Hey, projection room!
Tsk, tsk. We may have to watch it again for the optimal viewing experience.

Where did you watch Iron Man 3? How was the theatre?

Aha, we weren’t imagining things! Shangri-La Cinemas, madilim talaga ang projector ninyo.
Thanks for the reports, readers. Fire away.

Market Market, where I practically live. I caught the 3D version, which really isn’t worth it, especially since their glasses keep slipping down my nose. It does mean that it was one of the renovated theatres, and the picture quality seemed rather good. The thing I don’t like about their revamped theatres is that I have to climb up stairs (and I have to set up base camp before ascending), whereas their older ones aren’t staggered and you enter from the top.

Hi there! I’m officially no longer a lurker on your site. I’m happy to have signed up!
On opening day I lined up for 30mins. to try and catch the 6:50pm show at Gateway Mall Cinema 5. The line was long and slow. Why is it that when you need to buy tickets right away that’s the time when they are undermanned or a machine breaks down or they need to reload the ticket roll? I was inside the theater by 7pm and was pleasantly surprised that they were still showing the trailer of the new Thor movie.
The second time was at Cinema 8 also at Gateway Mall last saturday. This gets 2 thumbs down from me since the movie stopped for about 4 times due to power failure (at least that’s what they said).
I’ll need to rewatch a third time to erase the crappy memory from last saturday.

Shangri-la mall cinemas are so dark. I can tell because I saw Magic Mike twice – in Megamall and Shangri-la. In Shangri-la you can barely see Channing’s precious twins. I also saw Dark Knight Rises twice, in SM North and Shang. That’s when I knew Shang cinema projectors really are dark. Haven’t seen Iron Man 3. I will see it but maybe not in Shang.

fizzywoohoo: And after standing in line for 30 minutes you have to wait another ten minutes because the person in front of you has to decide which movie she’s watching (This time she has no choice haha), call her friends to ask them which movie they want to see, review the seat grid thrice, ask the ticket-seller where the screen is when it is clearly marked on the diagram, and call each her friends again to ask them where they want to sit, before buying her tickets.
But that’s not the theatres’ fault.

lestat: You couldn’t see Channing’s…Demand a refund!! (Bad enough that the distributors chopped up the movie.)

SM Cinema San Lazaro – small as a cottage, but the picture and sound were great enough

Sadly, I have not seen this latest Iron Man installment. I know, I know, I should be flogged for this.
I plan to watch at the Podium.

brewhuh23: Of course not. You can’t be flogged, you’re a martyr/masochist hahaha.

watched it first at greenbelt 3 which should have started at 8:50. My friends and I went early around 8:20, so we can catch the trailers- I want to see Star Trek on the big screen and Thor 2. But then they told us the last one started late so we have to expect around a 5 minute delay. That would have been fine but turned out we went in at around 9:20 and of course no trailers, argh! The sound and screen were ok but the waiting around the already crowded, unventilated lobby was a major downer.
Second time I watched it with my sister at SM Cinema Fairview- the screen was dim and the sound was a bit muffled. Again, no trailers but a bunch of irritating commercials. I think I need a 3rd re watch before I start biting someone.

watched it in SM Lanang, Davao City. New theater, few movie watchers, and only for Php150!

Watched IRON MAN 3 in Trinoma. It was good. Wala namang audiovisual problems though the last full show screening started late. (Ayala cinemas and I have a history of technical problems. The screen went dark for quite some time during Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol and Breaking Dawn Part 2).
I agree with the poor quality of Shangrila cinemas. Hindi naman ganyan yan dati. At madaming lamok sa loob mind you.
Watched TRANCE at shangrila last week. There was a flickering red hue during the first 15 minutes of the movie. Gahd! (or was it part of the movie? I dunno. I feel it’s not.)
