Behold the evil mutant pastry.
The first couple of times we went to Wildflour we weren’t impressed: we found the prices too high, the acoustics terrible, and the food fairly ordinary. But our friends kept wanting to meet at Wildflour, and after several visits we have grown to like it. They do have the best bread in the city.
At their branch in Podium they offer a pastry board: you can choose any four pastries for Php400. We picked (from bottom to top) the dulce de leche—a pastry filled with same and topped with chocolate, the old reliable sticky bun, the Nutella and banana danish, and the vanilla cronut.
Yes, the cronut, invented (and trademarked, oops) by Dominique Ansel in New York.
This mutant pastry, half-croissant and half-doughnut, is deep-fried, rolled in sugar, filled with cream, and glazed. Do not eat it by yourself! It is pure evil. Bring two friends and spread the guilt. And then skip dinner.

“Do not eat it by yourself!”
…That sounds like a challenge to me.
I’ve made a Nutella cake before, which is mostly eggs, butter, Nutella, and hazelnuts, topped with a chocolate ganache and more hazelnuts for good measure. I need more things to stick Nutella into, so maybe a banana Nutella pie like that danish would be something to try.

Oh good they have a branch in Podium. Thanks for posting.

I don’t see the croissant part in that cronut. Looks like any ordinary donut to me.

Delectable evil hahahaha

Yum!
I’ve been passing up the chance to eat at Wildflour for the longest time. Will check it out soon.
How’s their Dulce de Leche?
And finally a pastry with Nutella. I’ve had it with this Cookie Butter monstrosity. My workmate bought one in California for $4 but people are selling it here at Php 470. Okay lang kayo? Now Trader Joe’s folks are only selling 1 jar of Cookie Butter per person.

It’s a doughnut made of croissant dough.

Ejia and brewhuh23: We stopped buying Nutella for the house. The big jar does not last the night. We cannot even blame the cats, they don’t like sweets.

I’ve heard that Biscoff spread tastes better than Trader Joe’s cookie butter.
Nutella is a sometimes food. Maybe once a month I buy a jar and use it to dip things like biscuits in, and try to make it last as long as possible. I don’t know how my self-control lasts, honestly.

Oh, I see. Definitely pure evil. I never liked donuts or croissants. But then I just might like the cronut.

Ejia: Biscoff spread is made of cookies (like Soylent Green is made of people) and tastes like sweet caffe latte.
