Ask us a question and we’ll answer in a sound file
Saffy and Drogon taking a nap.
Aaargh, we’ve been described as “incoherent” and “non-responsive”. Even if we had brain fever at the time, we don’t like it. So ask us a question, any question, in Comments from today till Sunday and we’ll post the answer as an mp3.
Tina says “brain fever” sounds like we caught something during an archaeological expedition in Victorian times and have to check into a sanatorium in Baden-Baden or Davos where we sit looking at the mountains with a blanket on our lap…while agents from British Intelligence pass us notes.

Thanks for posting your questions! Turns out we are incoherent and disorganized, but that’s our normal level of incoherence and disorganization.

I found your site only couple of months ago but a big fan since college. I really enjoy reading about your cats and litwit. I envy your followers who also write. Wish I could write but am not good.
So for the first time I will comment and ask. Hope its okay to ask two.
Would you want more cats or are the ones you have now okay? (They are very cute.)
When will the next litwit be? (Can not remember if there was already a winner from the previous, fairy tales.)

what do you think of the movie Juno by Jason Reitman?
June 13th, 2014 at 17:29
People who have had a brush with death usually say that it made them realize things like what’s really important in life etc, and some would make significant changes in their life or attitude towards life. I know what happened to you isn’t anywhere near that but did your little “brush with mortality” made you think about your life and how you’re living it? If yes, are you planning to make any changes (whether big or small)?

What scares you the most?
June 13th, 2014 at 17:35
Aaaaand… I got my answer in the first sentence of your previous post :p
June 13th, 2014 at 20:21
Aww…didn’t realize you would hate my question! ok..will give it another shot. Have you seen that video of the cat that saved a boy being attacked by a dog? (if you haven’t seen it, i recommend watching it!) do you think your cats would do the same for you?
P.S: if you still hate this, don’t worry, it’s gonna be the last haha. :)

Are you into fountain pens? Which model fountain pen would you like to have? Whose fountain pen would you like to inherit?
June 13th, 2014 at 21:04
When you were in the hospital and still “out of it”
“Most patients have to be told to stay completely still, but I was so out of it,”
were you unconscious? where did you go? did you see anything, a white light? eye of sauron? did you go out of your body?
Can you give an impromptu, brief grammar/ sentence construction lesson? Do you have a suggestion on how to make sentences flow? How can one avoid making choppy sentences?
Is waking up on the floor of the bathroom a normal occurrence compared to going out in flipflops?
Please Take care.

Do you recommend we get health insurance?

Jessica, what’s the best way to kick-start a writing project? I want to finish a poetry book. Sounds too ambitious, though…
June 13th, 2014 at 22:29
Hi Jessica. London calling!
I’m glad you’re better and back again.
Are you coming to London anytime soon? Any chance of book launch here in Blighty? Ryan Mayor now lives in Norwich.
June 13th, 2014 at 22:58
Hi, I write content for the web and there’s this one project that I can’t seem to finish. The subject is easy but the words just won’t come out. What’s the longest that you stalled on something that you really need to write and what did you do to get un-stuck?
June 13th, 2014 at 23:22
Hi Ms. JZ. Good to hear your voice on the sound file.
Here are my questions:
-Who are the top three most interesting personalities on your list? What makes them so interesting dor you? Have you considered writing “fiction” about them?
-What is your opinion on the works of Garcia Marquez? Of Murakami? Of Eco?
June 13th, 2014 at 23:27
I accidentally touched the submit button. Another question:
-If you were given the chance to be a fictional character, who would you be and why? (Pang-Ms.Universe. Hehe!)
Take care always and happy weekend!

Ayon nga sa kasabihang ” Ana Dizon is Ana Dizon” well it prove sa iyong pinagdaanan ay masasabi na nating “Jessica Zafra is Jessica Zafra”….
Ang aking tanong ay “Kung ikaw ay ipanganganak ulit (pwede na ring reancarnation) Ano ang pipiliin mo 1.) Maganda ka pero Bobo or 2.) Pangit ka pero Marunong …..AT BAKIT? (kelangan pag sinagot mo yan dapat start ka ng “thank you for that wonderful question then bira….:-)

Are you still friends with Chuvaness? I apologize if it’s too personal and you don’t have to answer or even post this but I’ve been wanting to ask that for the longest time and I thought I’d grab this opportunity to do so. I’m just curious ‘coz I seem to remember her name being mentioned in your earlier books and then it stopped popping up. Thanks.

Hi Jessica, I recently bought Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species. In chapter 1: Variation Under Domestication, the author says there are correlations to a species’s color and constitutional properties. He said that male cats which are entirely white and have blue eyes are generally deaf. Is this true for Drogon?
(I’m a cat lover myself and I find Drogon cute. I will maraud your house and steal him from you. LOL!)
Thanks!

Long-time lurker here. I discovered your work as a college student in MA in the 90s and haven’t stopped reading your work since. I remember copying pages of “The Purple Prose of Baguio” from “Twisted” and passing it on to my American classmates. They all thought it was hilarious. Tears ran down my eyes when I first read it. I simply could not stop laughing. I even loved the Auden parody intro. Heading to Manila for vacay in a week. Where can I get my hands on the “Fireless Inferno”? Second, did you and Arnel Salgado (assuming he exists) actually meet?
June 14th, 2014 at 10:56
how do you keep your humor even after having “brain fever”?
what was it that you actually had? encephalitis? did the flu cause it???
any advice doctors gave you on how to not have it again?

1. I have decided to wrap both my arms in tattoos, and I see this happening next year. My right arm will be covered by December this year, and I am rather looking forward to it. Meanwhile, I am worried. I like being a nerd, and I could fear that sporting two full sleeves might cancel that out. Do I have reason to?
2. I have attachment issues, and I don’t feel like getting another Siamese yet. I am now a temporary dog person, and I could get used to the little motherf’s enthusiasm. I still have a lot of Prince in me, but this new found affection could escalate. I am a cat person, but I worry that Cohen’s endearing energy could cancel that out. Do I have reason to?
3. The Ultimate Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything isn’t really 42 now is it?
4. There’s this twink in the office, a daisy boy closet queen who’s got more powder than Avon, and he claims that the “discreetly bisexual pamintas” are funnier than the out loud and prouds like yours truly. “Akala ko ba mas nakakatawa mga shemales?” I really don’t say much recently, because I just got transferred to his team. He gets the laughs, by default of course, since it is his home court, and I am still not saying anything. I am not really worried, but do I start cussing, let it rip, and tell him to shut the fuck up leetel cocksucker?
5. We do not have reason to worry about your High Super Graceness, now do we?
Muahness from Pasig Cireehhh, your High Super Graceness.

Madam, glad to hear you’re ok.
June 14th, 2014 at 17:55
pwede ba ng follow up question?
Ano thought mo sa suicide? minsan kasi parang wala ng challenge at parang wala lang ang buhay as in walang meaning yung life ko parang nabubuhay lang ako for the sake na mabuhay kahit wala namang meaning ang buhay. bakit ba talaga tayo nabubuhay kung ang buhay ko ay wala namang kabuhay buhay?
June 14th, 2014 at 19:45
hello jz,
1.) how did you feel when you found out that your name trended in major search engine?
2.) in one of your twisted books you’ve mentioned that the best way to live, is to live life without regrets what do you really mean by that?
3.) can you do a one-on-one session to people like me who wants to really learn how to write?
salamat! wishing for a full recovery.
June 14th, 2014 at 23:05
Yesss! Thanks Madame, I know what to do now. I really appreciate the advice! What you said about having a sense of humor, in response to an earlier question, hit the nail on the head. I like that, exceedingly. That bit about medication, in response to being Your Highness, was a riot!
You are so back, haha!
Muahness from Pasig Cirehhh!

Regarding Ronigurl’s question on the gaydar vs. the ummm luludar, I am believe that it’s an it-takes-one-to-know-one kind of deal. I have quite a powerful gaydar (99.5% accuracy haha), capable of detecting the most discreet peppermint ever, but I wouldn’t be able to recognize a lipstick lesbian unless she tells me so herself.
Also, identifying a Showbiz Lingo host as gay is not exactly a feat because it’s like guessing that Ricky Martin is gay. A gaydar feat for someone not gay would be guessing that Wentworth Miller was gay (we’ve been saying so for years, but for the longest time our lady friends vehemently insisted that we were wrong, wrong, wrong).
So I think that the luludar works best for lesbians themselves. But it’s just a theory.
June 15th, 2014 at 14:57
Argh. Self-editing before proceeding: “I believe that…” and not “I am believe that…”
As for questions for Jessica:
1. Have you read Carlo Vergara’s ZsaZsa Zaturnnah (the original graphic novel)? If so, what did you think of it?
2. What sorts of supernatural encounters have you had?
3. Who do you think will win in a fight, Gandalf or Darth Vader?
4. What foreign city that you’ve visited would you say is your favorite so far?
5. You’ve mentioned potentially dabbling in screenplay writing. Have you ever considered directing films as well?

What is your opinion on popular English Fiction books being translated into Filipino/Tagalog language?
glad you’re doing okay, jessica! are your new books available at NBS already? :-)
