Cinemalaya X reviews: K’na the Dreamweaver, #Y and the triumph of the milieu
K’na the Dreamweaver. “You must see the big picture,” the old dreamweaver tells her granddaughter, and the filmmakers follow her advice in this beautiful movie that makes us want to book a ticket to Lake Sebu right now.
#Y. “Having no right to be unhappy is not the same as being happy,” says Miles (Elmo Magalona) in this intriguing, unsettling film about privileged millennials that makes us happy we never had children.
And that completes our Cinemalaya viewing for the year. We will review all the Cinemalaya X New Breed movies in full.

After watching K’na, my friend and I agreed that we should find a way to become Tiboli royalty. We must have those outfits and headdresses! ( So if we are to really translate the title of the movie to English, it would read “Dream: The Dreamweaver”?)
During the movie, I also half-expected for the characters to whip out swords and fly through the air while attempting to hack each other to death. I felt the movie had a … Manchurian feel to it.
Loved the movie.

the chronicler of boredom: K’na gets the We Want Her Problem Award—in love with RK Bagatsing, ordered to marry Alex Medina. Can’t she have both?

Well, she’s the dreamweaver. She can have Alex during her waking hours and RK in her dreams. Then her woven cloths would be her and RK’s children.
