Sherlock fans, collect your New Year’s present
SHERLOCK fans are among the most patient fans on earth, and they have to be. Since the BBC series created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss premiered in 2010, there have been exactly nine episodes, 10 if you count the one-off holiday special that aired last week. The fans have used the time between episodes to create endless tumblr pages and memes featuring Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch (Check out the one demonstrating his resemblance to an otter) and Martin Freeman, write fan fiction about Holmes and Watson, organize a worldwide army (Cumberbitches), and report on every move made by Cumberbatch and Freeman. I would probably not stalk the Cumberbatch, but I might consider replacing my library if he were to record all the volumes as audiobooks.

I’m so glad that you enjoyed the most recent Sherlock installment. I’ve been hard pressed to find allies in that direction. Most other critics and fans panned the episode, citing that it felt like a bait-and-switch scam, or that Moffatt allowed himself to add Doctor Who-isms to this show.
I had a blast seeing Watson call Holmes out on his bullshit. It makes for a more human relationship between the two characters.
It’s also intersting to note that the two had a brief relationship dynamic as Halfling and Dragon.

Another thing to add, BTW:
My first glimpse of Cumberbatch was his role as the self-important leader of the Quiz Team on Starter for 10.
Geez, whatever happened to that movie’s cast?

volume-addict: What about the political correctness police with the gripe about mansplaining? I like how Moffat showed that cliche can be clever. He left enough clues: the historical errors, the appearance of the deceased. “I tell stories, I know when I’m in one.”

volume-addict: Yes, whatever happened to James McAvoy, Rebecca Hall, Alice Eve, Dominic Cooper, James Corden and especially Mark Gatiss?

I do have an issue with the mansplaining and the excuses and the special snowflake fawning of Sherlock, but I guess that’s a matter of taste?
I adored Sherlock’s first season, but by the second season the plots got senseless and messy. (A ghost plane with 300 dead bodies, really?!) The third season was painful.
