You wish you could point to the criminal scum and order them to be shot. Someone cuts ahead of you in traffic? Bang! You wish you could make rape jokes. They’re just words, right? Why don’t these wimps get how funny it is to say you want to violate a woman? Your mother, your wife, your sisters, your friends: why don’t they get it?
Clearly, Duterte has struck a vein in the Pinoy psyche. He is the figurehead of a genuine people’s movement. As a social scientist would put it, his rise is based not on a political machine, but on Keynes’s “animal spirits”. That this unpredictable outsider may soon be president of this republic speaks to how well the candidate and his campaign team understand the deepest, most primal fears and needs of the Pinoy.
Duterte’s words are not calculated to impress the voters. He doesn’t have to calculate. He’s just saying the words that are already in your head. He is your walking, talking, preening, strutting id. The id is the part of your personality that contains your most basic instincts. It is where your needs, wants, desires, impulses, sex drives, aggressive drives come from. It is not affected by reality, logic, right or wrong. It only has one master, and that is the pleasure principle. It wants immediate satisfaction, it does not care how.

Hindi ko kinaya yung sinabi niya tungkol sa rape incident. Para akong nanghina nung nabasa ko. Grabe yung mga nagdedefend pa rin sa kanya at sa mga sinabi nya sa online articles na nabasa ko. Buti na lang din wala akong Facebook.
Pero narealize ko rin: goodbye, Duterte; hello, Binay. Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!

Haaay, sana katulad mo mag isip ang nakararaming Pilipino. Nakakatakot isipin na si Mayor Duterte ang susunod na magiging pangulo ng Pilipinas. Pero mas nakakatakot na madaming Pilipino ang gusto na sya ang manuno sa Pilipinas.

I really do hope that this would trigger some level of introspection on others. But I highly doubt it, this is Dramaland after all, where any form of criticism and blunt analysis are viewed as a personal slight/attack/insult and its automatic dismissal. Thoughtful consideration and proper logical refutation be damned.
It’s the same electoral horde which conflates democracy with fascism; “Pinoy Pride” with validation by proxy; xenophobia with patriotism and being humane with being a wimp. Apparently humanity is now a character flaw.

He’s the new FPJ. His supporters, the wannabe/feeling intellectual elite, doesn’t even know it. Stupid people don’t know they’re stupid. These people are a bunch of losers who formed a group and found their champion. Grabeng fandom! I don’t understand. They defend his rape comments and wish rape upon those who don’t share a similar view.

@thegreatcornholio not in Duterte’s defense, but this is the same “fandom” that but the Aquinos in Malacanang. The same “fandom” that took out Erap, and the same fandom that would put anyone else in/out of the palace in six months to six years. Hail holy fandom, our sweetness and our hope!
