Let’s talk about socks
My favorite shoes with my favorite socks
I’m going on several trips in the next month and doing a lot of walking, so before I left Manila I went to Marks and Spencer and bought a pack of socks. You’d think socks would be easier to find than shoes. Nope. In the last three years I’ve bought dozens of socks that turned out to be useless. Crew socks (mid-calf) and boot socks are easy. Happy Socks and Proppy do them well. But ankle socks, including the ones that claim to be no-show, cause problems—they slip down and disappear into my shoes. I’m talking about you, Old Navy, Calzedonia, and now Marks and Spencer ankle socks. Only Muji ankle socks do their job. If there’s anything that causes me to revert into an eight-year-old, it’s socks that get eaten by shoes.
Yesterday I had barely walked a block when my socks retreated to my arches and my ankles were chafed by the backs of my shoes. Blasted socks. Fortunately there are convenience stores on every street corner in Yokohama so I ducked into one and bought a pair of men’s socks. Which held up perfectly, and saved my feet from bleeding.
Could somebody tell me where to get good ankle socks?

These are not ankle socks but they are still good. Burlington has these socks that you can wear with flat shoes. They have a flat gel at the back that helps the sock to stay in place. I even wear them with boots because i have fat calves and leggings plus socks cannot fit inside a boot haha :) You can by them in SM Department Stores.
Anyway, I hope you find the perfect socks for you.

I get my ankle socks from H&M. The ones right before you get to the checkout counter. Haven’t had any problems so far.

Try lululemon. I find they hold up well and come in 2 sizes for women.

Uniqlo works for me. Has the same gel thing at the back to keep from slipping. Only thing is that the socks tend to be thin..

I’m a loafers kind of guy, and I had the same problem for ages. Tried a number of no-show socks out there (MUJI, Uniqlo, etc.), but all of them would come off midway to the balls of my feet after 10 steps.
Already accepted the fact that there are no no-show socks out there that would snug my feet well and would not undress on its own, and resorted to using double-sided tape plastered on where the sock meets the top part of the heel to secure it in place.
It was on my wife’s insistence that I tried Burlington low-rise socks, and that changed everything.

Thank you, all, I’ve heard great reviews of Burlington socks. Soon as I get home I’m stocking up.
