The flap over that excerpt from Issa Rae’s book—which was published in 2015, and apparently read only last week—reminds me of this scene from a fondly-remembered 90s movie, The Commitments. Say it once, and say it loud.

i sort of don’t mind being black if that means i might come from wakanda :)
i’ve also heard it at least once that filipinos are like the irish.. which also is not so bad because hey.. U2..
people need to not take the internet too seriously…
