When I heard about the news, I called my dad; told him how disappointed I was
and how worried I was. “Area of influence, anak,” he reminded me. Then yesterday, I went to the office. There were hand sanitizers and anti-bacterial wipes. Before using a table, I wiped it down, knowing fully well somebody had probably cleaned it already. I went home early, knowing things are not normal and thinking there are (2) countries who have the opposites of NZ’s Jacinda. I had to debrief myself upon reaching my bunker because going out in search of normal is like going on a failed mission. At least here, in my home, I can do a bit of hiding from reality.
