Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher: terrifying! We can hear her cast-iron balls clanking from the screen. Michael has already ordered the champagne for the Oscars lunch.
Thanks to Brewhuh23 for the alert.

I read that her friends are not pleased with the movie. I’m curious what Mrs. Thatcher has to say herself.

Sooo fierce ni Lola Meryl!
Dennis!
Speaking of Ate Guy, I just saw her a few days ago withdrawing money from a bank near my workplace. The bundle of cash given to her by the manager was to drool over! Taray!!!

I see the similarity: a great actress portraying a female political figure loathed by her own country (or at least its working class).

No, the studios usually have limited screenings in selected cities before the end of the year in order to qualify for the Academy Awards. (The Oscars are less fun than the fanatics campaigning for their favorites. Go Michael!)

Yes, the challenge is to take a loathed political figure and find her humanity.

But have you seen the trailer of the movie in which Glenn Close plays an English woman who cross-dresses as a male butler? She hasn’t won an Oscar yet.

As Cameron of Modern Family said it, “Excuse me, Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice.”

I can’t believe the level of venom being spewed online on this film (and even on Meryl Streep) just because of Margaret Thatcher — so many people in the UK still really hate her.
I actually like her and even consider her one of my leadership role models — but then again I am not British and did not experience life under her government.
On the other hand, as many people have commented, she won several successive elections and had a fairly long run as Prime Minister, so she was actually quite popular. And I still believe that her admittedly radical economic policies were the right ones for the situation at that time.
