It takes a wig and a logo
Finally watched It Takes A Man and A Woman, which we are told is a super-mega-turbo-blockbuster hit with bells on. ITAMAAW is the third in a series of romantic comedies starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo and directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, a.k.a. Star Cinema Rom-Coms Named After Saccharine Pop Songs.
What is there to say about this movie? The moment you sit down you know how it will turn out. We’ve concluded that that is precisely what the audience wants: the comfort of sameness and predictability, without the jarring surprises that real life tends to deliver. We just have two observations:
1. A dead furry animal fell from the ceiling and landed on Sarah Geronimo’s head. Star, why do you make your biggest star wear such hideous wigs?? She appears in shampoo commercials, she’s supposed to have fabulous hair. You can shoot scenes in New York, but you can’t pay for a proper hairstylist?
2. John Lloyd Cruz plays the publisher of a print media company called Flippage, whose logo is a mirror-image lower-case f.
We published a magazine called Flip, whose logo was a mirror-image lower-case f.
Guess that makes us John Lloyd. Bartender, make it a double. On second thought, leave the bottle. And fetch another case. (Bartender: ‘Fetch’ is not happening!)

kaya hindi ako masyadong fan ng filipino movies eh, its because of those pang jologs (sorry cant find the right word, im not good at that) na storya. i mean like what you have said, predictable and it’s a if it happens in real life. tapos..tapooss…ugh! i need to stop typing.

The wig is hideous. I thought the audience will get reprieve for the final installment, hindi pa pala. And the product placement. My goodness, anything to show
I watched this with a friend and I did more crying than get “kilig”about the movie. My friend screamed at me.
Friend: “Hoy si Sarah Geronimo yan, hindi si Nora Aunor! Bakit ka ba iyak ng iyak?”
Me: “Hindi ko din alaaaaaaaaaam!”
Rowell Santiago, you are forever 25 years old hehe.
Is it too much to ask for a Gabby-Sharon-Rowell reunion? No. None takers?

Maraming magandang pelikulang Pilipino, hindi nga lang sumisikat o kumikita.

Friend : Di baaaa?! Pero pag tinitigan ka, keri na ang pagiging chubbelito!
I didn’t finish my observation on the product placement. Star Cinema we know you have sponsors. You don’t have to point out the obvious.
Silentfollower : Bet ko yaaaaan! So mommy si Sharon si Gabby and BFFs si Gabby and Rowell?
Tapos magkaka-may december affair si Ate Shawie & Rowell at malalaman ni Gabby tapos FO (friendship’s over) na sila ni Rowell! Taraaaaaaaay!!
