Export your horror
Aptly, the Filipino horror movie Sigaw (literally “Scream”) by Yam Laranas is being remade for Hollywood, by the same director, as Echo. It’s not in the article.
The author points out that ghosts don’t like to travel, they stick to their designated haunting area.

did you see Sigaw. ni-rent ko yung vcd dahil na-pick up raw ng hollywood yung movie ni Yam. boring. hindi ako nakatagal ng 20 minutes.
manood ka na lang ng Rambo, and watch him blow away the fckers with the turret gun.

I agree. Sigaw is not just boring for a horror movie. It is also senseless. For the life of me, I cannot decipher why a yuppie played by the cardboardish Richard Gutierrez invests his hard earned money in a run-down, squalid & dark condominium for him to spend the rest of his bachelorhood in. That simply is unnatural, if not plain stupid. Op kors, given that premise, expect a lot of visitors from the dark side di ba? Dun na papasok yung horror kuno.

i think richard’s character was there in building for a board review. im not sure though. not that i like it but did you know that it did win in Screamfest in the US? there must be something to it that we pinoys don’t see. sanay kasi tayo sa tiyanaks at manananggals. but honestly, this is something that we should be proud of. i mean the pinoy talents making it in holleywood.

Yeah, we should be proud of Pinoy talents in Hollywood but remaking a scream film that almost put me in a coma? It definitely isn’t the way to go. Remember what Hollywood did to The Grudge 1 and 2? One Missed Call (although Shannyn Sossamon kinda looks like Angelina Jolie)? The Eye (sorry Alba fans, the trailer looks like a mess)? I hate to be the bearer of bad news but face it, the Sigaw remake is not looking good.

i’m glad yam got his picture remade in hollywood. but i don’t know what the westerners saw in that film. if you’ve seen the movie, it was done on the cheap with boring dialogues.
hollywood is out of ideas and they’re scraping the bottom of the barrel to remake asian horror flicks. yan kasi ang uso ngayon eh. To the Weinstein Brothers, may i recommend Shake Rattle and Roll?
