Batman was here
On my way to the supermarket at Power Plant I saw an exhibit in the hallway of published work by the Filipino illustrator Alfredo Alcala.
His work ranges from Tagalog komiks to the Star Wars comics in the L.A. Times to Swamp Thing.
We have a lot of great comic book artists, as Budjette frequently reminds us, but most of them are familiar only to serious comic book enthusiasts.
Alcala’s oeuvre includes work on Batman, Hellblazer, and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.
You know what we need? An anthology of the best of Liwayway komiks. Full color, good paper (Please not disintegrating newsprint), with essays on comics and society.

NOT A COMMENT.
Hello there,
I’m getting paranoid. I know you don’t want hostile nor whining personas, but what the heck. Reading your posts I am always thinking you’re trying to tell something (to me), like this BATMAN WAS HERE.
Jeez. You’re making me insane.
You know I write stuff, too, on my blog. Please don’t misinterpret what I write.
I’m too transparent with you now; it’s dangerous grounds for me. I’ve laid my cards on the table and (don’t even know if others are reading my letters to you).
What the heck (again).
I wish there’s another way to talk with you.
Don’t I deserve a direct, one-on-one and two-way communication?
Don’t make me suffer, needlessly.

ADDENDUM:
Hello Jessica,
Geez. I misread (again) the meaning of your post. My adrenalin acted up before my brain.
I’m scratching my head and sinking in my chair.

No one is amused by your lavatorial sentiments, stalker.
You will cease this tone-deaf bellowing at once.
This is your final warning.

Holy chances,Batman! You mentioned Liwayway comics? Are you referring to the comics in the magazine? If so,I am so willing to give away my dad’s collection of 1990’s Liwayway magazines that came with the Manila Bulletin. Why? Because they are termite magnets, I can’t really read them all and they are gathering dust in my storage room, along with other vintage magazines from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. Can you help me with this Jessica? Maybe you can include these in your giveaways?I can make all the necessary arrangements. I have Free Press,Sunday Times,Panorama and Life magazines, nearly all in great state of preservation. I don’t know what to do with these, though I have decided to keep some issues which I think are historically important,i.e.,the issues about Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, the Philippine American war,WWII,and the Free Press issue where Ninoy Aquino was the Man Of the Year,1967,the one where he is shown with a naughty winking eye, sleeves rolled up, his coat draped over his right shoulder. (suddenly I feel like a trader of antiquities in Cairo.) What say you?
