Day 2: More information than you need
What is this yellow stuff streaming into the window? Aaaaah sunlight! I could get used to this, except for the waking up early. Today’s schedule for the Hillary Rodham Clinton in Manila Live Blog is comparatively light. Have to be at the meeting point at 7 am because The Motorcade Doesn’t Wait. Must remember to thank the driver for getting us safely to where we’re going, five times faster than regular travel time.
For the record, I’ve been using a prepaid Globe Tattoo throughout this coverage, and it’s been working efficiently. There are speed issues and it tends to disconnect in the Malacanang area, but I’ve been doing most of my blogging in a moving vehicle. Total cost of yesterday’s portable broadband access: 80 pesos. Not bad. My Macbook (Marat) performed brilliantly and without complaint: it’s a year old, but the battery still lasts four hours (well, 3:53). Thanks to Joey and Juan who told me to always keep the Mac plugged when working at home—saves the battery life for moving assignments.
What I’ve learned on a personal level: if you can’t be bothered with the state of your hair, keep it at a manageable length, use conditioner, and bring a large clip. Thanks, Chus, for the haircut last week and the advice on avocado hair products.
The BLB says that if the security guys won’t allow their faces to be photographed, maybe I could shoot them from the neck down. Hmm, the shrimp approach. Let me try that. To Marvin who’s going to be at the town hall meeting at 8: Look for me in the press area and I’ll snap your photos.
Have to run, keep your questions coming. Back online in an hour or so.

Was anybody (i.e. civilians, not news orgs) assigned to tweet Hillary Clinton Livein Manila in addition to your live blogging?
