Roger and out.
Djokovic def. Federer 7-6 (7-3), 7-5, 6-4.
I don’t know how Djokovic beat Federer in their Australian Open semifinal. Sportswriters will write thousands of words analyzing the match to gloss over the fact that they don’t know either. Viewers can watch the replays from all angles but they won’t know either. Only The Fed and Djoker know, and it may boil down to the tiniest trifle, like a minuscule pebble in the shoe or a cryptic look from someone in the audience that one couldn’t get out of his head. Or a feather floating around the court. And causality is vasty overrated, so there could be no reason whatsoever.
In the other semifinal, Andy Murray takes on David Ferrer.
In the event of a Djokovic-Murray final, these are the factors that may affect the outcome.
1. To celebrate his victory over Federer Djokovic beats his chest so hard he breaks a rib.
2. After being reminded for the 27,458th time that Britain has not won a major tennis tournament since Fred Perry 75 years ago, Andy Murray throws his racquet at the audience, then his shirt, then his shoes, and walks off the court.

Dagnabbit, where’s that Djokovic doll when we really needed it?!?!?!!!
I was watching the game with my parents over dinner. Mabuti na lang at masarap ang ulam namin, because otherwise I would’ve practically chewed my nails down to stumps by now. Plus the camera kept cutting away to show poor Mirka in the audience, and her reaction shots were even more painful than the game itself.
Can’t wait to see what happens with Murray vs. Ferrer, though.

I was kinda expecting Djoker to take out Roger in four sets based on their form going in the semis. But gawd, it was pure Federror throughout the match. And his backhand was just dreadful tonight.
Congrats on your second slam, Djoker!

Of course we know. Nole was simply better–more solid–from the baseline. Roger shanked too many of his shots, and his serve was a bummer. Roger simply wasn’t his magical self. With his form, Nole deserves the title on Sunday. Meanwhile, I pray to a thousand gods that Roger will win Wimbledon and the US Open this year.

I don’t care who wins this year’s AO, as long as it’s not Murray. Sorry.
Apparently, even Jimmy Fallon is bummed about the loss:

…And it’s Djoker vs. Murray for the Australian Open finals.
Shallow note: Is it me, or was Andy Murray’s mum dressed up as Sue Sylvester from Glee?

….i was surprised at djokovic’s game on this match, compared to their previous encounters…he was just outstanding from every corner of the court..djokovic just got so much better, probably that’s what he learned from losing the US Open last year…he needed to step it up to compete with the best…and i think it can only be matched by the federer of the olden days..too bad federer was not as explosive as he once was…i do hope federer wins another slam.
