Practical Friends: Why do you buy Moleskines, they’re so expensive, you can get a perfectly good notebook for one-tenth the price?
Me: I don’t know I just love them.
It’s not rational, I know. Alternate answer: It’s Chus’s fault, he gave me my first Moleskine.

Yes the history is a brilliant marketing stroke. At the time Picasso-Hemingway-Chatwin were using these notebooks the Moleskine brand did not yet exist.
