Surgery vs Photoshop, Love vs Career, and Other Non-Choices

Apropos of the Madonna vs Cyndi Lauper discussion: How come KC Concepcion is more beautiful and sophisticated than her mother but her career has not yet achieved Sharon megastar proportions?

Dahil hindi sya pang-masa? I guess it would be weird to see her as the heroine in a movie like “Bituing Walang Ningning”.
Also, I agree: Cherie Gil was and is still fabulous.

A lot of my friends think that KC’s handlers try to hard to make her masa when she’s clearly not. Hard to imagine that girl be a promodizer or a saleslady, but Sharon’s Pasan ko ang daigdig didn’t do well in the box office either.
I just think it’s hard to believe that KC cannot have everything (the love of her life, car, jewelry, career, bag, etc.), so making her play characters who pine for these things are totally unbelievable.
It’s like saying, if she doesn’t get what she wants, what about the rest of us?

…And then there’s the *other* Sharon-Cherie confrontation, which comes at the beginning of this video:

“Nobody SNOBS me!”
(That same video – starting at around 2:30 – also has Sharon standing up to Hilda Koronel in Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita, which is my personal favorite… even more so than Bituing Walang Ningning, I think.)

I don’t know why but I’ve never liked KC. As in tipong kumukulo ang dugo ko whenever there’s something related to her. Same with Piolo. I really don’t know why. Kaya natawa ako when I found out na sila “daw”. Pang-asar lang ng universe.

KC can’t act. Period.

@brewhuh: Yep, she is clearly not “pang-masa” material. About KC not being able to play certain roles, in my opinion, it’s like Sharon on Caregiver. Not buying it either.
@queen: Same here. It’s so bleh. xP
On a similar note, I have a KC encounter. I went to Powerbook’s G3 to pick up a book and saw KC with her yaya. KC pointed out a book to her yaya, who called a Powerbooks employee who is a couple of steps away. Yaya said to employee: “Gusto daw nya yung libro na yun.” I’m like ok… kailangan talaga may interpreter??? Kalurkey!

I meant Powerbooks G3 sorry.

On the other hand years ago, before KC started doing movies, some friends of friends saw her in Paris. She didn’t know them, but she introduced herself, asked them if they were from the Philippines, then offered to show them around the city.

Jessica — From what I heard naman, every time she needs to do a report for a class or something, KC always talks about the Philippines, the places here, the food, the culture, the people, everything! DOT should’ve gotten her to be an honorary diplomat to France or something.
