We have a business model!
Went to Seoul today to take a break from the peace and quiet of Ansan. Anne, whom I met at the game, was kind enough to show me around her adopted city. We were walking around Gangnam, the central business district, when we saw this.
If there’s anything that will stop me in my tracks (we were on our way to Itaewon) it’s a Garfield mascot inviting people to something called Cat Cafe. Could it be. . .a cafe featuring cats? I’d heard about them, but I didn’t know they had them in Seoul.
It’s on the fourth floor of a walk-up with a 7-11 on the ground floor (parallel to the main boulevard with the Uniqlo).
At the entrance you are asked to take off your shoes and put on plastic slippers, then rub your hands with disinfectant. The entrance fee, including one drink (They have a good green tea latte) is 8,000 won. We were presented with the rules of the establishment:
If you like coffee/tea and cats, this is happiness.
The cats ignored us initially, being cats. They did not respond to meow, ming-ming, or sswsswsswss.
Suddenly one of the cats noticed my bag and started trying to get inside it.
I don’t know if they caught the scent of my three cats, or if they could tell there were these excellent madeleines we bought at a metro station, but the cats were all over the bag. When I closed the zipper they tried to claw it open.
It was the best way to end the day’s wandering. Thanks to Anne for being our very patient tour guide.

did they miss #11 – Do not fart? See drawing right below the one for do not hold the tail of cats. I mean, there are 12 drawings. 10 for the instructions and 1 for the guy saying the instructions. This other one didn’t have an explanation. What else could it be? =)
