Way too relaxed in Cagayan de Oro
Last week I was in Cagayan de Oro to cover a food festival and get a little writing done. The minute the plane landed I felt so relaxed, so laid back and stress-free, I got no work done whatsoever haha.
The city as seen from Room 302 of Pryce Plaza Hotel.
This was my third time to stay at Pryce Plaza. It’s a fine establishment, the food is good and reasonably-priced, the service is polite and efficient. The rooms are in need of renovation. There is too much beige in the world as it is.
Blank walls. Maybe they should just go minimalist and paint everything white.
I was so relaxed I was practically invertebrate. All I did was wait for mealtimes and read.
I read in bed.
I read in the cafe. I read in the breakfast place.
And I went to a culinary event where I had this delicious evil humba and read some more.
The Hare With Amber Eyes by Edmund De Waal is exquisite and heartbreaking and I’m going to read it again.

So how was the humba????? Pardon my focus on it but my late dad used to cook the best humba in town and the mention of it aroused my gustatory curiosity.

Pryce Plaza has remained unchallenged as the premier CDO hotel for many many years. The other hotel owners are not keen on outshining it. That’s why, I think, Pryce is not pressured to redesign and redecorate.
