There isn’t a single character in Girls we wouldn’t kick in the head.
But we can’t stop watching because we think we know these people. Compared to Sex and the City it’s a sociology documentary.

I really, really, really want to like this show. People told me, “hey it’s just like you/us!” and the Lena Dunham character really do look less-Hollywoody and more human (also we have the same arms). But after the first episode, I tuned out because I got so angry. Entitled ba kamo? Excuse me, pwede ba Lena nakakahiya ka naman, pati yung maid kinuhanan mo ng tip. Bakit, nagtatrabaho ka ba?

I love how the show ended. Parang The 400 Blows lang that scene in the beach. And Lena Dunham writes the most awesomely hilarious lines and the way Shoshanna speaks as if every sentence ends with a question mark is so spot on. (I’m like the least virginly virgin ever.) My fave of this season is episode 3, esp when they get to last part and danced to Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own”.

I’m with #4 on this one. The effort was too much even on the 15 minute mark of that pilot to get over the smug characters and those entitlement issues. In the US, they’re even arguing the point that they live in a part of New York that’s supposed to be culturally diverse…yet the only non-white characters are reduced to bit parts. They’re also stereotypes at that.
