1. Understand that by reading past this sentence you may be exposing yourself to information that could spoil your enjoyment of The Dark Knight Rises. While care is taken not to reveal plot turns, twists and plants, mere mention of the words “turn”, “twist” and “plant” may encourage you to watch out for these narrative gimmicks and interfere with regular viewing. It’s probably best that you stop reading this right now.
1.1. In fact we recommend that you refrain from reading any reviews of the Batman movie until you have seen it.
1.2. They all die, okay? They all die!!
1.3. We told you to stop reading.

Forgot to mention: Plenty of hot guys in small roles.

I don’t know if it had something to do with the encoding, but some of the titles/names in your article got mixed up.

it was the least interesting batman movie i ever saw. bane is a lame villian that looks like a lucha libre wrestler with an old man’s voice.
maybe it’s the muzzle…

Our mistake, we kept getting the title wrong. Hmmm our subconscious is conflicted.

“Let him feel the heat of the 12 million souls he failed.”
Marion Cotillard, save us!
Batman also reminded me of FPJ in some of the fist fights.

Somehow I liked the second chapter better. It felt like they just repeated the whole prisoner’s dilemma / game theory and rich vs poor conflict but on a grander scale.
Plus I also couldn’t get Marion Cotillard’s appeal. It felt like it was just an informed attribute (Alfred: “and she’s quite beautiful Master Wayne!” me:”ows di nga!?”).
But Bane – mmmmmm. Sarap!

(NO REAL SPOILERS, BUT IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THE COMICS, YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIGURE THINGS OUT IN MY COMMENTS BELOW).
Nolan is a master of happy misdirection.
Those twists, some of which I’d expected but had thought they were already out the window because they didn’t become revealed until nearly the end, were just awesome – especially if you’re a comic book fan.
I liked Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, but I was somewhat disappointed that her character didn’t reflect the capabilities and skills of her comic book counterpart, who can easily kick Selina Kyle’s butt.
I will say that I had apprehensions when it was announced way back that Anne Hathaway, with her general sweetness, would be Selina Kyle. I’m glad she proved me wrong – and while for me she’s no Michelle Pfeiffer or Julie Newmar, she’s close. She had me right when she leaped onto that window with the pearls.
(SPOILER REDACTED)
Tom Hardy IS Bane. I was never a fan of Bane, but I’m glad the character got his due after Schumacher’s appalling take on him in “Batman and Robin.” And I’ve loved Tom Hardy since Inception, so awesome.

I will miss Nolan on “Batman.” It’s really the end of an era. I hope though his way of creating thought-provoking comic book movies will seep to other DC movies like “The Man of Steel.”
I love Marvel’s movie-verse, especially the “Avengers,” even if I’m not a big Marvel fan. However, they can keep to their comic-booky fun and action-packed approach to their franchises.
This should be DC’s niche and differentiating factor: the translation of their icons into realistic film characters that walk around in thought-provoking story lines.
In related news:
Cilian Murphy! Love you!
Liam Neeson! Love you!
Aaron Eckhart (sort of there)! Love you!
Six major Bat-villains in one movie. Awesome.
I can almost bet that if Heath Ledger were alive, the Joker would have had a cameo, too. Especially since I’m sure that’s why Nolan kept the Joker alive in Part 2.

You missed Bane’s cute lieutenant and Sam Claflin as the cop guarding the bridge.
July 23rd, 2012 at 06:39
Bridge cop wasn’t really my type, but yes indeed to Bane’s lieutenant. And also: the fall guy in the plane wreckage.
July 23rd, 2012 at 10:43
Was that Sam Claflin guarding the bridge? I thought that was Desmond Harrington (from Dexter Season 4).
July 23rd, 2012 at 17:53
Oops, that wasn’t Sam Claflin but someone older. But 3 seconds of Linus Roache, Special Forces guy with the lips, and the henchman who fell with the plane. Plus Littlefinger/Mayor Carcetti.
