A boy and his tiger
Calvin and Hobbes! The first thing we read in every issue of TODAY. Then we would double back and read every page. Fine, our paper never achieved the phone book thickness of the major dailies on Sundays, but every page was worth reading. No fillers. (And that’s why it no longer exists. Sob.)
Collections of Bill Watterson’s beloved comics are now available at National Bookstores (Photo above was taken at the Power Plant Rockwell branch). The Treasury Collections are Php689 each, and there’s a massive four-volume hardcover Complete Calvin and Hobbes at Php3990.
We miss the little psychotic.

oh my gosh, thanks so much for this! I have all the books except for two- the 10th anniversary edition and the big one in white I forgot the title and I have been scouring the bookstores all over for these!! Does all the NBS branches carry these or only the one in Rockwell, I mean the complete set? I’ve got t-shirts, posters of Calvin and Hobbes and just lately I have been reviewing the books. Still makes me laugh and wondered for the nth time how much fun I have actually missed out during childhood when I tried so hard to be a good little girl at home and in a school run by nuns. My favorite stuff toys are tigers, and I still wish they morph into Hobbes when everyone’s gone.
By the way, have you seen Thor 2 Dark World trailer? Somebody commented that it looked like an Asgardian shampoo commercial hahaha–what with Thor’s luscious golden locks in full display (and muscles and baby blues..sigh) …plus, a bonus of creepy Loki ( who looked like in dire need of that magical shampoo!) !! Though not playing the big bad, I’m excited that he still figures very much into the movie. This is a wonderful year in films!! Star Trek premiered in Australia with positive reviews ( a lot thrown in B. Cumberbatch’s direction ), am watching Iron Man with friends later and I am stoked for the rest of the year! As if I have nothing better to do with my life!
Thanks for the heads up Jessica, this post made my day!!

Wasn’t registered here at the time – belated thanks for your post before about the Fight Club connection. Like Wicked, this is a prequel theory that’s impossible to disbelieve.
