Traffic has eaten our lives
As lifelong veterans of traffic, we formulate explanations as to why it is so bad. These explanations are not thorough or accurate; in many cases, they’re not even right. They are increasingly desperate attempts to make sense of the black hole that swallows us up every time we go out on the street. They constitute a mantra of urban life.
The traffic is heavy because it is raining.
Because it is rush hour.
Because it is Friday.
Because it is payday.
Because there’s been a vehicular accident.
Because the highway is being repaired.
Because there are shopping malls right along the main thoroughfares.
Because the skyway is being constructed.
Because the truck ban has been lifted.
Because the trains aren’t running.
Because there are too many colorum buses.
Because there is no urban planning.
Because the motorists don’t follow basic road rules.
Because this and that.

this week on monday in istanbul, somebody jumped off the 2nd bridge between europe and asia at around 9.30 am. the police efforts to try to convice the man not to jump off caused the early morning traffic.

wala lang.. parehong traffic ridden kasi ang manila saka istanbul.. dito rin magbago lang weather at mag simula lang ng school semester at boom traffic! pero last monday kakaiba and i didn’t mind ng makita ko na ang reason bakit may traffic.

another rant.. sort of.. alam ko things are probably much worse in manila..
just had to endure 3 hours of traffic going home today.. it’s normally 1.5 hours at end of day.. malapit na kaya akong umuwi for good sa pinas kaya sinasanay na ako? just thinking out loud..
ang reaction ko na lang tonight is to set aside books to read in the bus para if we’re caught in traffic, i can either read or sleep.. tsaka dapat may baon na akong snacks huhu..
i also just read your article.. nabalitaan ko nga yung mga politicians na sumasakay sa public transportation. they should really try the pnr, para maramdaman nila ang sardines feeling especially pag rush hour..
(feel free to not approve this :) just wanted to rant out loud a bit)

Grabe ‘yung NLEX kahapon.
