New Yorkers discover embutido
Read The Rich Tradition of Filipino Embutido in the New York Times.
After reading this piece we looked up Elvie’s Turo-Turo in the East Village and found out that it has closed. Nooooo!
Good, cheap embutido: Teresita’s of Guagua.
We haven’t been to New York in years. We should go this year.

Embutido is a fave of mine. I actually cooked it over the holidays and still have several loaves available. I don’t like raisins in it, though. (Actually, I don’t like raisins in anything except when they are taken by themselves out of the box.)
It’s really nice to know the exposure Filipino cuisine has been having in the last 2-3 years in the international scene. Apparently, it’s the next big thing in the USA now that Thai and Japanese cuisine have gone sort-of mainstream.
