Winter is still coming, there’s no sign of a new claimant to the Iron Throne, but someone we know could win the game
Fugitive Tyrion grows a beard, Jon Snow’s beard is thicker, and Jaime Lannister chucks the book and heads off to Dorne to hang out with the Sand Snakes, which should be more fun than besieging Riverrun. There’s no sign of Aegon Targaryen, and Varys and Tyrion seem to be throwing their lot with Daenerys…who could be Tyrion’s half-sister.
We just got The World of Ice and Fire, a history of Westeros by George R.R. Martin et al, and the chapter on the fall of the Targaryens says the Mad King had a thing for Tywin Lannister’s wife Joanna, dangling the possibility that Joanna’s youngest child Tyrion was fathered by Aerys II Targaryen and is therefore in line to the Iron Throne.
It has been mentioned that Tyrion is very much interested in dragons. There’s also an old rumor that Tyrion was born with a tail, like certain Targaryens of old.
Three dragons, three dragon riders: Daenerys Targaryen, (R+L=)Jon Snow (This is hardly a spoiler, it’s been a popular theory for years), and now Tyrion.
Presumably the showrunners know how The Song of Ice and Fire ends, and who are the main characters on the series? Daenerys, Jon, and Tyrion. We like this theory.
