MMFF Day 3: Could this film festival possibly get worse? (Updated)
Looks like Dingdong Dantes went to the same acting workshop as Jericho Rosales and graduated salutatorian.
* * * * *
Consider Kris Aquino’s film career. When she started…acting, she was cast in romantic comedies of the “kilig” variety. The grosses were all right but it was in the “Massacre movies” of the 1990s that she became a star. Audiences flocked to her films in which she was tormented, violated, killed, chopped up into small pieces and stuffed into a suitcase.
When the massacre movie craze ended she did melodramas for a bit, and then found her true calling as the “Horror Queen”. Audiences flock to her films in which is tormented, violated, driven absolutely bonkers and sometimes killed by supernatural beings. The latest of these is ABS-CBN’s Segunda Mano, directed by Joyce Bernal and written by Joel Mercado. (WARNING: SPOILERS.)

her first horror film was ‘feng shui’. it was actually good. i enjoyed it.
i watched the second one, ‘sukob’, because i was in singapore then and
i had to support pinoy movies that get screened in that country. it was
disappointing. after that . . . so she made more horror movies after that.

The frightening thing is, Dingdong Dantes just won Best Actor in the MMFF for this.
I still haven’t seen the movie, and all reviews I’ve seen have largely been bad… but since I have a strange affection for Asian horror, no matter how bad, I’ll probably still see this. If only to see Kris Aquino yet again be “tormented, violated, driven absolutely bonkers and sometimes killed by supernatural beings.” Hee.
And oh yes, could this filmfest possibly get worse? Probably so. I heard “Enteng” is pretty bad, too, and while SRR13 was a slight (very slight) improvement over the recent SRR’s, it was still not very good.

@allancarreon I woke up to the news that Dingdong won. I wanted to go back to sleep and never wake up again, haha.

@brewhuh23 haha but he might haunt you in your dreams. Now is that what you really want? To never wake up again while he accepts his award over and over as a loop on your dreams? Haha

@allancarreon LOL!

Bwahahaha!

While watching it last night, there was a collective gasp of disgust in the audience when Kris kissed Dingdong, hahaha. We also lost count on how many times Kris cried while trying to tell the whole world how much of a victim she thinks she is.

What an ugly font! What an ugly poster! Checking your site makes me see the movie posters up close and all I can say is it looks like we’re behind also in graphic design. Makes me appreciate the hand painted movie billboards back in the 80s where you can’t tell Babalu from Panchito. The other movie you reviewed with Gabby, etc had a really bad typography too. Ryan Agoncillo looks really gay in their movie poster. I have the urge to sock people in the face when I hear the catchphrase “ikaw na!”.

Ahaha, I like you because you are so corrosive! @ thegreatcornholio
Maiba lang. I really don’t support local films as much as I used to. Well, I really don’t support local films period. Who am I kidding? It can argued that the industry Is prosperous with material to bash, but so are my ugly friends. The only difference is that they bash back, and they don’t take offense, and they love me for the jerk I am, and they’re funny in many, many levels.
