Cake the bookstore cat
Here’s Cake the resident cat at Books Actually, posing patiently for another smitten fan.
Although we start hyperventilating with bibliophibian lust whenever we visit Kinokuniya, we are especially fond of Books Actually because it’s in a quaint neighborhood (Tiong Bahru Estate), it carries vintage books including ancient Penguins,
the proprietor publishes local authors in good-looking editions,
it has a wide selection of vintage collectibles including eyeglasses from the 60s and 70s, and at least two cats live on the premises.
Thanks to our brilliant friend James for introducing us to Cake and co.

I love this store! But how’d you fare with Cake, who struck us as unsociable? He tried to scratch me while sitting on a copy of Kafka on the Shore.

Cake is such a beautiful kitty!
I’ve heard of Books Actually before, but I want to add it to my (as-yet-to-be-realized) itinerary for SG now that I know that it has been adopted by cats.

Cake’s gigantic eyes are beautiful and luminous. Oh, and I’m not talking about myself. :)

Wow. I’ve been living here in SG for more than a year now, but haven’t been to Books Actually. Now thanks for reminding me to visit that place.

Looks like this store’s bigger than the one they had on Ann Siang. Just like kindler, i could probably live in that bookshop.

I wish there were bookstores like that here, including store cats.
