No one really dies in the comic book universe
Marvel Comics has killed off Professor Xavier. Thinking of shaving your head to mourn his passing? Stop. The more you read comics, the more you realize that no one ever really dies in that universe, especially not a character who is well loved. Like Captain America was supposed to have been killed. And how many times has Jean Grey come back? So brewhuh, kids, stop moping and practice your psychokinesis. But watch out for your Mummudrai.

Comic book deaths are so hackneyed already, it’s become a real joke in DC and Marvel. Heck, they resurrected Jason Todd and Bucky.
I give Prof X between 1-5 years to return from the dead.

To paraphrase Chandler, yes it was very sad when they stopped drawing the bald guy in the wheelchair. =)

It’s pretty much template at this point for cape-and-cowl books to have these characters die and come back to life.
This is where books like The Walking Dead or The Sword really hold their appeal. In those books, what’s dead stays dead.

I have to remember that, hahahaha! I snorted, instead of sipped, my coffee when I read about it. Kaloka!
But I’m calm now. Didn’t have coffee the whole day. Success haha!

Also, here’s a fun read: one blogger writes about how Prof. Xavier punked the X-Men thinking he was dead, then proceeded to be quite the jerk during his new run at the Mutant Academy (yes, there are panel shots from old X-Men issues!). So much for eulogies.

to ipem… Jean Grey (the real one, not the Dark Phoenix)died in New X-Men 150 (2004). As for the mockery of superhero deaths, blame the Death of Superman mega-event for DC (and later, Marvel) made money over Supe’s “death”. Deaths in superhero comics never matter anyway! This proves also Americans’ absolute fear over death, unlike Asians and Africans.
