Message to Noynoy
Senators Manuel Roxas II and Benigno Aquino III. Philstar photo by Boy Santos.
So Mar Roxas has shelved his personal ambitions to support Noynoy Aquino’s presidential bid in 2010. Mar is a patriot.
Noynoy, we don’t really know much about you but your parents didn’t let us down so we will give you the benefit of the doubt. Tita Cory famously disliked unsolicited advice but you’ve been a professional politician for a while so you should be used to this. We have some suggestions which you might consider.
1. We would like you to emerge as your own person, not only Ninoy’s son or Cory’s son or Kris’s brother. A distinct personality is always desirable in one running for president. Of course family achievements will be brought up, but we would like to know what you’ve done, how you think, what you personally believe, and what you intend to do.
2. Please do not propose to your girlfriend on Wowowee or any other TV show because no matter how sincere the intention it will look like a stunt.
3. The combover. Lose it. Also, while slightly parted lips make one look more relaxed in photographs, having the mouth open when one is not speaking produces a vague, absent expression. This sounds shallow, but it matters.

You listen to any politician and what you always hear is the second coming of the Messiah. “I am the chosen one to lead you into the promised land. I feel your pain so let’s build a better future together.” Evidently, this is all for show but we still fall for this PR marketing scheme over and over again. Politicians are overrated and politics is full of crap.

Bull’s eye!
I think Noynoy is a good person but Philippines don’t need a good person as a leader. What we need is a good and CAPABLE leader. People don’t know much about Noynoy, his capabilities or his personality. I know Noynoy is capable of something great, the problem is i don’t what it is.

… I honestly don’t think his blood-relationship to the former Pres Aquino and celebrity Kris can guarantee him a good number of voters in the 2010 Presidential Elections.
… Also, I may sound know-it-all but for me, Mar Roxas’ giving way to Noynoy isn’t a good move. The latter hasn’t even given his confirmation yet. my first reaction to that was “napaka-disorganized naman nila..” They are in the same party anyway. They could have talked over the matter first, announced Mar Roxas’ decision, and put Noynoy Aquino in the limelight. it would then sound like a bomb.
…pero yun nga nangyari tapos the senator himself told the public that he isn’t sure yet. It was like estinguishing the fire of their party. I felt like watching a very pathetic stage play…

Here’s one: stop trying to make it seem that you’re running for president because God wants you to. It’s manipulative and insults our intelligence. Also, I don’t want a president who claims to hear voices in his head.

and please drop your Mamang Nagpapadyak commercial. it’s OA and it’s icky.

You don’t owe Mar Roxas anything!

In this case, Noynoy said that he needs the help of the Filipino people to make it and make the change. In that sense, he may be different from the rest. Here’s to hoping…

Amen to Miss Zafra’s unsolicited advice. Senator, you might want to consider shaving your head completely. Any barber or hairdresser will tell you it’s the right thing to do. Trust me,this would make you look a lot better, and it will prove that you are willing to face your destiny, both political and personal. The hell with the thinning hair. Bald guys are always cool!

Just don’t run. Marry that CAMANAVA politician. Save your hair and heir.

I will not vote for Noynoy.

I think Mar Roxas eased away a few reasons why Noynoy shouldn’t run. When contemplating maybe the most important decision in your life, one by one you peel away or jump over the hindrances, pray for guidance (not epiphany) and consult the people you trust most. Combover or shiny crown I am inclined to vote for him. His parents are enough reason for him to value integrity. Of all those who can possibly run for president, he is one of only two I perceive to be trustworthy. After Gastadora Lakwatsera, it is tempting to elect anyone from the opposition. When the final list of approved presidential candidates comes out, I hope Ms. Zafra blogs about it so her followers may post their views. Maybe they can sway me to vote for another candidate.

They should have not rushed into it and should have subjected the two to a proper selection process. I feel LP leadership just took advantage of Cory’s death. They wanted to ride the “slipstream” of events. In their rush, they replaced a pussyfooter with another!

I might vote for Noynoy in 2010.. only if he runs for VP.
But never will I vote for Mar.. for whatever position!

to use the spiritual retreat excuse is just tacky. And frankly, it’s exhausting. You know who needs a spiritual retreat? Kris. And Mikey Arroyo (he needs a spiritual retreat, plus a brush-up on government-employee-sense-of-decency).
September 4th, 2009 at 15:36
If and when Noynoy becomes president, his first executive action will be to appoint Kris as his press secretary, who will do the press briefings at the ABS-CBN studio in a new show called Noynoy News Ngayon.

The US also had a president for 8 years that thought he was anointed by God. That led the country to a war in Iraq with questionable intentions, a global credit calamity, poor emergency response after natural disasters in Indonesia and New Orleans, Guantanamo Bay, etc etc. Choose wisely.

Just like what the eve6 song says: “think twice.”
September 5th, 2009 at 17:11
here’s a guy who has to go on a ‘spiritual retreat’ to help him decide if he wants to run for president or not… hmmm, not very decisive, eh? and if he does decide to run it will now come across as either napilitan lang or nauto. i will definitely not vote for noynoy.

My grandparents accepted and supported our system of democracy and they all ended up disgusted and betrayed. Same fate happened to my parents, who still believed, followed and worship the state, and the politicians who will make all our dreams come true. And I think this is also true on your part as well. In my case, I already withdrawn my ideological support for the system many years ago and focus my time and small resources for my family, myself, and enjoying the few freedoms left for us. The whole concept of democracy is wrong with its intention good. If implemented, the output always gone wrong.
Even you put a very gentle person in power, the system does no good. (Tita Cory, God bless her.)
If you put a dictator, it destroys many. (Marcos, May he rest in peace.)
And I think if we put Jesus in power, the system will nail him on the cross again.
This is one of my many reasons why i don’t believe in democracy.

just a follow up. why vote?
“It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.”

Not voting signifies defeat as a citizen. One has to be vigilant with their freedoms or their freedoms get taken away from them…be it by changing the constitution to curtail your rights or by oppression by way of raising more taxes. The voting citizen keeps the system in check. We can’t depend on the elected officials to do all the work. Voters should change that attitude. Voting is only one step in participating in the political process. One also doesn’t have the right to complain about the system if one decides not to vote. Don’t go crying in the streets if all of a sudden term limits for poorly performing public officials get lengthened or when you get another tariff is raised over those imported books if you never made it to the voting booth.
