Hysterical Histories: the winners of our historical-mythical mash-ups
The winner of the Historical Figure-Mythical Monster Mash-Up is Tandang Sora, palabang lola by johnbristol6. It’s inventive, bizarre, witty, and (high compliment) it made coffee shoot out of my nose. (Budjette, let’s make it a comic book!)

Before anything, I just want to second JZ’s recommendation to read all the other winning entries in this contest – especially johnbristol6’s take on Tandang Sora, which truly was the funniest and most inventive entry in the bunch. I also want to give a shout-out to kindler’s entry, too, because it’s quite subtle – AND it guarantees that you will never look at Mar and Korina’s wedding the same way again! (I say this as someone who sat through the Rated K Wedding Special, and remains convinced that Korina is not human.)
Again, cheers to all!

The last contest was fun I hope the next contest will be something in the likes of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, just messing with the classics…

is that book sealed in plastic? awesome! Looks like I’ll be buying the mash-ups myself, but the consolation prize should be a good read in the meantime. looking forward to the next contest, then.

Re johnbristol6’s Tandang Sora entry: The imaginative melding of historical figures, pop culture references, twisted and suspenseful plot, and sharp humor cracked me up. Subversive but not heavy-handed. Bizarre but has a strong internal logic. Congratulations to all the contributors! You ought to email this blogpost to your history and English teachers. Great idea, Jessica.

IT’S T.H. WHITE!!!
“Should be a good read”!?!
To quell this homicidal rage I will do my annual reading of The Once and Future King early.

*shields self* Poor choice of words on my part, but no offense meant! For the record I read a bit of the first book from my high school English book and really enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to reading the entire thing.
