Venus is not the Commander-in-Chief; her non-answer had no body count
Where is our explanation? Preferably one that does not point to the misdeeds of the previous government.
I do not give my support casually, and I will not withdraw it lightly, but I need an explanation.
P.S. As long as you’re apologizing to the whole wide world, what about an apology to your own people? More than 15 million of them are feeling like giant idiots right now, and it doesn’t help that we have to hear irrational hypotheticals (“If you had voted for xxx instead, this wouldn’t have happened”).

Message to President Aquino: there is a limited shelf life to the effectiveness of blaming the Arroyo presidency for the ineptitude of agencies of government. If Mr. Coloma and Mr. Robredo do not realize this, they have no business being in your cabinet. Each time they, or you, say “minana lang namin ito” from the previous administration, your credibility is eroded. At some point, soon in fact, GMA and her allies will cease to be believable justification for failure of government to govern.

Memo to Aquino and his Cabinet: Enough of the “I’m sorry stuff.”
Stop apologizing already.
Think about it: If 8 Pinoys died in a hostage situation in HK or elsewhere in the world, those countries would not even be sending an email to our President.
And our outrage would not merit airtime/space in their media.
We should, inspite of the blunder, be acting in a position of strength, to be respectable enough.

The whole bloodbath would have been avoided if the persons involved in the so-called negotiations SIMPLY SAID YES to all the demands of the hostage taker (is “hostager” a right word? I think it would be acceptable, but I’m not from the academe). Did the authorities think that they would have to abide by those promises once the drama is over? They could simply send the idiot cop straight to Munti or kill him once the hostages are freed. Did they think that that cop can press charges against the government for “reneging on a promise to him” made at a time when he has a bus load of foreign hostages? I am deeply disappointed at how P-noy could afford to be seen smiling before the cameras….no,sir, this isn’t the way it’s supposed to be….I would have cheered if I saw you there on the very spot where you called us “your bosses” barely two months ago…directing the action,on top of the situation…in fact you should have talked to the idiot cop yourself and tricked him with promises so he’d release the hostages unharmed. No one would have blamed you, and we won’t be the target of all these hatred publicity all over the world now.
